Some photos from a short training hike this morning in the Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve for an upcoming trip to the Sierra Nevedas in August. This is in the mountains between Redwood City and Half Moon Bay in the Bay Area of California. Here's what I saw today :)
A beam of light broke through the leaves above lighting only this maple leaf.
Banana slug which could be found all along the trail near the creek. This one was about 5-6" long.
Santa Cruz Garter Snake. This poor little creature was dead when I saw it on the trail. Might've been trampled by hikers or mountain bikers.
